Join Britain's Biggest Thank You To Veterans

The Armed Forces Pledge is a simple way to show that their service and sacrifice are seen, valued and remembered.

More than 1.8 million veterans live in the UK, alongside serving personnel and their families. From National Service and Northern Ireland to the Falklands, Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, generations have served our country. The Armed Forces Pledge is our way of bringing people across Britain together to say thank you - and to show that their service has not been forgotten.

Your pledge matters.

Add your name, add an optional message, and show the Armed Forces community that Britain is still with them.

4 of my brothers served in the British Army., my late husband, and 5 Nephews.

My father and uncles served in WWII, and my mother in the Land Army.

A good army friend of mine was blow up by a bomb which has left him disfigured and blind.

Two of my nephews, Andrew and Liam, barely 18 at the time, served in Afghanistan. One never recovered from the trauma and went on to commit suicide, the other continues to suffer severe mental health problems and will never be the young man he was, or have a quality of life he deserves, for fighting for his country. We often forget the sacrifices service men and women make because they are not in the media on a daily basis. Their physical and psychological trauma is not in our faces, like some other banal coverage we see on a daily basis in the news/media.

But they are there, in the background looking after us, making sacrifices, putting their lives on the line. We salute you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for our freedom and keeping us safe.

Dad served as a navigator on a Lancaster bomber with No. 101 Squadron during the Second World War. In recognition of his courage and efforts, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC).

I am incredibly proud of my dad and the bravery, dedication and sacrifice he showed in serving his country. So very proud, he is my hero.

I wanted to share his story as a small tribute to him and to honour him, and all those who served alongside him, to protect the freedom we have today.

    Dad forever my hero. ❤️

If it wasn’t for my dear Dad, who served as a Scots Guard during WWII under Monty, as a Desert Rat, I often wonder what our lives might have been like. To my Dad, and to all those who have served – and continue to serve – thank you for your courage, your sacrifice and your dedication to keeping our country free. Your service is remembered, valued and deeply appreciated. Lest we forget – and long may freedom continue for generations to come.
