Why we’re asking Britain to stand with veterans
More than 1.8 million veterans live in the UK. They include generations who served through National Service, Northern Ireland, the Falklands, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as those who have left the Armed Forces more recently.
For many, the transition to civilian life goes well. For others, the need for support can emerge months or years later - through physical or mental health problems, difficulties with housing or employment, isolation, financial hardship or pressures on family life.
The Veterans’ Foundation created the Armed Forces Pledge as a simple way for people across Britain to show that those who served have not been forgotten.
By adding your name and leaving a message of support, you’re helping to build Britain’s biggest thank you to veterans - recognising their service and sacrifice long after the conflict has disappeared from the headlines and the uniform has come off.
Behind the Pledge
The Armed Forces Pledge is a campaign from the Veterans’ Foundation. Since 2016, we’ve awarded more than £40 million through more than 1,500 grants to over 600 organisations supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families across the UK.
