Martin Taylor signed Armed Forces Pledge 2026-10-01 13:14:10 +0100Both my grandfathers fought in ww1, thankfully they both both came home, both my mother and father served in ww11, thankfully they both came home too.. on my fathers side is a long line of service personnel, mostly from the East Kent Regiment out of Cheriton and Folkestone.. of all on my fathers side we didn’t lose any, the closest call is my uncle Bert, he was torpedoed twice and amazingly survived! he married a French girl and settled in Folkestone after the hostilities ceased… on my mothers side her brother, my uncle Austin, served with the paras.. my uncle Jack was hit in the lung on the beaches of Normandy and was pensioned off… We were so lucky to have survivors from both wars and I am eternally grateful for their service.. some haven’t been so lucky..
