Gerry Lewcock signed Armed Forces Pledge 2026-10-10 12:15:13 +0100My dad served in the 2nd Batt East Surrey regiment fought in the Malaya Campaign and was then a prisoner of war on the death railway around the bridge on the Kwai. He was one of a few that returned but like so many others today he was badly traumatised by his experience of brutality and survival .
I have served as a civilian all my working life with the military so my message to all those who have served and are serving is “We sincerely thank you for your service”Join Britain's Biggest Thank You To Veterans
The Armed Forces Pledge is a simple way to show that their service and sacrifice are seen, valued and remembered.
More than 1.8 million veterans live in the UK, alongside serving personnel and their families. From National Service and Northern Ireland to the Falklands, Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, generations have served our country. The Armed Forces Pledge is our way of bringing people across Britain together to say thank you - and to show that their service has not been forgotten.
